A Films Target Audience

A film target audience is were a certain type of genre of film wants to hit a certain audience or a wide audience. Film makers will want to hit the biggest target audience they can so they have maxium amount of sales. Disney films are perfect example for this, films such as toy story have sly adult humour hidden in the film which kids who the film is aimed at will not understand or worry about, but it gives the adults who are maybe watching the film with there kids plessure from watching the film. For hollywood blockbusters it is very easy for them to reach a really wide target audience because of the advertisment they use or the films they've made before. But also because the hollywood blockbuster are very mainstream so people will know about them alot because the media will be talking about the big money films all the time. When targeting an audience you will need to see what people will be looking to watch your film. So you will have to take in to consideration the age rage for the film, is it going to be specific or relate to alot of different ages. Also what genre will take a liking to the film better. Also the use of lanuage sexual activity and drugs are going to be shown because then it will limit the audience because people under 15 or 18 will not be able to watch the film. Target audiences do really make or a break a film because it has to be perfect for the target audience or the target audience you have targeted will not like the film.

  1. This is a good explanation of how to target an audience Charlie, but now you need to apply this to your own film. Use survey monkey to find out about who the audience of your film might be. You need to contribute to your blog much more regularly now Charlie, particualrly as you are in the middle of filming. I need to know what is working in production and what isn't. What is holding you back? How are your casting, props, location, equipment, scheduling decisions working out?
